Care Guide

Functional considerations

Magnetic fields can interfere with the functionality of your wooden watch. Keep it away from magnets, and have your natural watch serviced regularly by a professional to maintain its longevity. Always have repairs done by a professional watch shop.

Storage

Store your wood watch correctly when not in use to prevent scratches or chips. Your recycled watch comes with a recycled storage box, but a Bamboo Watch Box upgrade is available for those who prefer it. Extreme temperatures can damage wood watches, as the natural wood can warp in extreme conditions. While the vegan watch is coated and finished, avoid exposure to direct sunlight, radiators, or cold conditions.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning is important for keeping your handmade wood watch in good shape. Although our handmade watches are 3ATM water resistant, avoid exposing them to running water for too long or submerging them in water, as natural wood absorbs moisture and may warp. Use a soft cloth to regularly clean the exterior of the recycled watch, wiping away any dirt or dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they may scratch or tarnish the wood.

Ebony Wood

Ebony wood is characterised by its deep black colour and density, originating from tropical regions, including Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. The most valued species, African ebony, comes from West Africa, while other types like Ceylon Ebony grow in India and Sri Lanka. Historically used by ancient civilisations, including the Egyptians for ornamental and ceremonial items, Ebony’s smooth texture and durability makes it perfect for furniture, musical instruments, and now your next eco-friendly watch.

Unique Wristwatch: Each of our handcrafted models of The Fir boasts unique wood grain patterns; no two watches are the same. Each unique wood watch enhances your everyday look with one-of-a-kind style, designed by nature.

Natural Colour Hues: The natural black and hazel-brown tones of the recycled Ebony wood provide a unique, sophisticated look. The wood is contrasted with a golden frame and links in the strap, making this watch a perfect choice for smart but sustainable fashion.

Intricate Features: The Fir features the close-grain patterns of Ebony wood and the watch’s folding clasp, detailed with intricate branding, secures your watch and makes dressing it up easy. The watch’s classic analog dial display is reinforced with a hardlex glass lens, and powered through precise Japanese Quartz movement.

Environmental Responsibility: We at The Sustainable Watch Company are dedicated to making the environment greener and cleaner. We plant 10 trees and remove 250kg of carbon with every order. The practices we follow, the products we create, and even the packaging we deliver your wooden watch in have sustainability at their core.
