Care Guide

Cleaning

To keep your natural wood watch in peak condition, regular cleaning is necessary. Although our wood watches are 3ATM water resistant, prolonged exposure to water or submersion should be avoided. Natural wood absorbs moisture, which can lead to warping. Use a cloth to remove dust and dirt from your natural watch’s surface. Avoid chemicals and abrasive materials, as these can scratch or damage your wood watch.

Storage

Store your vegan watch properly to prevent scratches and chips. Your sustainable watch comes with a recycled storage box, but you can also upgrade to a Bamboo Watch Box. Extreme temperatures may warp wood, so protect your watch by keeping it away from direct sunlight and cold conditions. Although our handmade watches are coated, wood remains sensitive to heat and cold.

Other considerations

Magnetic fields can affect your natural watch’s performance. Keep your wooden natural watch away from magnets, and have it serviced regularly by professionals. For repairs, always go to a professional watch shop.

Zebrawood

Origins

Zebrawood originates from the Microberlinia brazzavillensis tree of tropical West Africa.  Specifically the dense rainforests of Cameroon, Gabon, and Nigeria. The tree faces threats from deforestation and habitat loss due to logging and agricultural expansion. This is why we only use Zebrawood reclaimed from furniture offcuts and upcycled into our natural watches.

Common use

This wood is highly desirable due to its aesthetics. This coupled with its durability derived from its dense, hard texture make it perfect for fine woodworking, high-end furniture and luxury items such as this men's watch.

Colours & Wood grain

Zebrawood is renowned for its distinctive dark and light striped pattern. Its unique appearance resembles that of a Zebra’s coat (believe it or not) and this is present throughout this vegan watch.

Striking Craftsmanship: Handmade entirely from recycled zebrawood, The Yew’s   heavy set body is enhanced by the natural aesthetics and unique grain patterns of the sustainably sourced, natural wood. The deep brown colour tones throughout the body and strap of this watch communicate a subtle statement about sustainability.  

Subtle Modernism: This vegan wristwatch is a fashion statement. The watch face sports a sleek black and gold dial, bringing some modernism to the traditional aesthetics of the wood. The wooden watch bezel is accented with silver detailing to further enhance the timepiece.

Durability and Precision: A sustainable watch, designed to be durable; helped by 3 ATM water resistance and a watch face secured with hardlex glass. The precise Japanese Quartz movement accurately keeps time, and the natural wood strap is secured with a push-button hidden clasp to conveniently and effectively lock the band.

Reducing Carbon Footprints: Like the rest of our models, The Yew is handmade with natural wood upcycled from recycled wooden furniture, reducing energy demand and waste during production. To neutralise carbon further, we offset 250kg and plant 10 tree's per order whilst having a carbon-negative workforce. Our shipping is free and entirely carbon neutral, the packaging is environmentally friendly, and 1% of all purchases from us go to charity.
